Day 7
The day started for the Hillside team with Sunday service at the Vision Celestial. We were warmly received by the congregation and Spirit filled songs like ‘10000 Reasons’ and ‘How Great is our God’ which were rendered in Spanish. The Children at the Church had a colorful parade in celebration of the National day which comes up on Tuesday 2/27/2024. Patti Freeman gave a speech on behalf of the Hillside team and Pastor Dan Seitz gave a sermon on friendship and community. The service was awesome and about 1hr 50minutes in length. We were hosted to a buffet style lunch with the Church leadership at the Vision Celestial Compassion Project in an atmosphere of joy, laughter, friendship and above all, love. The Hillside team was given DR (Dominican Republic) branded souvenirs as we prepared to say our goodbyes to staff at the Compassion Project. On our way back to the guest house, we took a ride on the Santo Domingo Teleferico (Cable Car) from Los Americanos station to Los Alcarrizos station where we had a splendid view of the city. Highly recommended if not Acrophobic. Tomorrow, we round up our DR trip with a host of activities including a visit to the historical city.
Ola Akinyemi for the DR team.
