Day 1 - 2025

We have arrived safely in Santo Domingo! After flying in Monday, we all gathered at the guest house, ready to embark on our mission. On Tuesday, we visited Vision Celestial, where we received updates from Altagracia on their ongoing efforts to be The Body of Christ and make a tangible difference in the community. They leverage Vision Celestial's Four Pillars, which include Emotional Support, Physical Well-being, Spiritual Growth, and Relationships. With this in mind, Altagracia also shared updates on various programs and initiatives, including:

  • Mothers in Need and Nutritional Help: Supporting mothers and children up to 3 years old, including legal documentation for kids so they can later receive full public education.

  • Women’s Vision: Helping single mothers develop skills and abilities, particularly in sewing clothes for men and women.

  • Water Treatment Program: Offering water at half price or allowing women to sell it, providing both financial support and access to clean water.

  • Vocational Skills: Offering English, computer skills, and music (Keyboard & Guitar). The first two are taught and funded by government-funded professors/teachers and provide certification for jobs.

  • Cafeteria: The business is doing well, serving lunches to local hospital staff and free trade zone workers. In the evening, it supports English students for their 4-hour classes.

Altagracia shared the numerous challenges faced, including the need for a new director, but emphasized how she finds rest in the Lord, yielding to His will, and focusing on what she can control. We can all learn from her wisdom.

Ernesto reminded us of the beauty of our togetherness, calling it "a piece of heaven." He meant it too, as he prioritized our time over government officials at the President's national palace.

We are grateful for your prayers and support. More updates to come as we continue our mission!
