Day 3
I’m just returning to my room from the time of sharing and worship which ends each day for our team in the DR. As a “newbie” on this trip, I particularly appreciate this time to slow down, focus on the kingdom purpose of our activity, pray, and share with another from our days. There are unplanned special moments in each day, when one spots a child peeking around the door, looking for you, or engages in a spontaneous game of catch or Uno, or gives you a beautiful smile and a hug. But each day also holds its own special blessings.
A highlight of our day today was a step by step lesson in the drawing of Noah’s Ark presented by Ola Akinyemi, a member of our team. You can see in the pictures how engaged the children and what wonderful pictures they produced!
Some of us also had the opportunity of making visits to the homes of our sponsored children today. My DR child and her two brothers live with her dad and grandmother. I have wondered for the past five years of my sponsorship what this special little one’s life is like, and today I was privileged to get a glimpse of it. To see and hear how much her grandmother loves God, how much she loves her granddaughter, and how committed she is to her future, fills me with joy.
Tomorrow, more home visits and craft stick catapults. I can’t wait!
